How You Can Help

There are many ways you can help the children Lead to Read KC serves build a brighter future with the gift of reading and mentoring support:

  • DONATE $10 provides a brand-new book for a child. Become a sustaining donor with a $20/month commitment. A $250 donation sponsors a student for a year of one-to-one reading and mentoring support. Any amount is welcomed and appreciated! You can donate online or mail a check to Lead to Read KC, P. O. Box 411006, Kansas City, MO 64141.
  • Join our HONOR ROLL Ready to boost your impact for student literacy? Become an Honor Roll member. Your recurring gift makes it possible for us to pair Reading Mentors with individual students for weekly reading sessions. 
  • If you want to pledge through your workplace’s United Way campaign, contact your HR or Employee Resources department to request the designated donor information and link.  On the United Way’s paper pledge form, write in Lead to Read KC’s organization number, 80388 

    For the online form, you should be able to use the write-in field to type in “Lead to Read KC.” As you type, matching agencies will show up in a drop-down menu list to select (it is a look-up field) and our name and EIN will automatically populate.

  • GIVE BOOKS Donate new books for special gifts to our students, to expand classroom libraries and to distribute to children in our community via our Reading Is EverywhereSM initiative. You can shop from a curated book list via our Amazon Wish List or purchase from your favorite local retailer. See our book donation guidelines for details!
  • BUY A T-SHIRT  Wear your support of Lead to Read KC on your sleeve! Buy a T-shirt to spread the word about our organization, and the profits will be used to support our vital programs.
