Partners
Lead to Read KC would like to acknowledge its major partners in making literacy a priority in Kansas City:
School Districts
Partnerships with Kansas City metro schools are the foundation for all the work Lead to Read KC does, and we are only successful because of the collaboration and support of teachers and administrators.
Hoot Reading
Hoot Reading began partnering with Lead to Read KC in 2021 to implement high-dosage tutoring programs in local schools. The cross-sector collaboration focused on tackling pandemic learning loss by improving equitable access to evidence-based, 1:1 reading instruction by qualified teachers. Since 2021, together we have delivered 10,000 lessons to 800+ Kansas City students.
15 and the Mahomies Foundation
Lead to Read KC has partnered with Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his foundation 15 and the Mahomies since 2020 on the Read for 15 program to encourage children to develop a love for reading. We support Read for 15 by recruiting partner schools, coordinating resources for the classrooms and encouraging students to Read for 15 minutes every day. We also organize a Reading Rally to celebrate the conclusion of each year’s program:
Heartland Literacy Coalition
KC Literacy Partners is a coalition of literacy-oriented local nonprofits focused on creating and executing a strategic vision for the future of literacy in the community. Click on member logos for more information:
