How It Works

  1. A Lead to Read KC Tutoring Facilitator arrives at the school and sets up a tablet and microphone headset for each participating student in the school library or an unused room.
  2. The Tutoring Facilitator picks up the students from their regular classroom and helps them log onto the Hoot Reading video chat platform.
  3. Students spend 25 minutes working one-on-one with the same certified teacher for each session of the 5- or 10-week program.
  4. Hoot Reading provides the school with individual progress reports and a data summary.
