To ensure you are a good fit for our Reading Mentoring program, we collect the following types of information when you apply to volunteer: Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address, Birthdate, Emergency Contact, Employer, Gender, Ethnicity, Education.

You always have the option to provide less information. However, it is important to note that omitting certain personal details may have implications for your application’s success.

Policy on Collecting Sensitive Personal Information

Lead to Read KC highly values your privacy and ensures that none of your sensitive personal information, such as your social security number or driver’s license number is collected. However, in order to maintain the safety and security of our community, Lead to Read KC arranges for background checks to be conducted on mentors. For this purpose, our background check partners may collect limited sensitive personal data. Lead to Read KC does not save or store any of this information and will only retain the pass/fail results provided by our background check partners. Your privacy and security are our utmost priority.

How the Information Collected is Used

We use your personal information solely to facilitate your participation in the Reading Mentoring program. This encompasses:

  • Setting up and managing your volunteer commitments
  • Communicating any promotions
  • Contacting you regarding updates to and ensuring your compliance with Lead to Read KC
