Schools
Lead to Read KC provides its Reading Mentoring services free of charge to more than 1,400 Kansas City area students in first through third grade.
We’re proud to work with public and charter schools, both of which are open to all students. Our school partnerships are the foundation of our program, and we are only successful because of the support of teachers and administrators.

“Today I announced to the students that their reading buddies were coming, and there was an instantaneous cheer! Most of the students don’t have people who sit on the sofa with them and read. When the reading buddies come in, they get to see adults who are off their phones and focused on them and caring about them. It teaches them that the written word is powerful. Lead to Read is so powerful.”
